Geoffrey
Guy
Dr. Geoffrey Guy is the founder and Executive Chairman of GW
Pharmaceuticals, a progressive company based in Britain that
produces and markets medically useful extracts from cannabis.
Initially intrigued by claims made by multiple sclerosis patients
that marijuana eased their symptoms of spasticity, GW has since
developed into a highly successful company on the cutting edge of
new science. Dr. Guy received his Diploma of Pharmaceutical
Medicine from the Royal Colleges of Physicians in 1984, and is the
editor of Medicinal Uses of Cannabis and Cannabinoids. In
2005, GW achieved an important victory for the medical marijuana
movement when their Sativex mouth spray, extracted from cannabis
and used to treat multiple sclerosis, was approved for distribution
and sale in Canada. Dr. Guy has over twenty years of experience in
pharmaceutical development covering new chemical entities,
biotechnology products, plant-based medicines, controlled drugs and
drug delivery systems. He has led over 200 clinical studies
including first dose in man, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and
clinical surveys. |
