Irvin
Rosenfeld
For over two decades, Irvin Rosenfeld has received marijuana
regularly and legally from the federal government as part of its
Investigational New Drug Program. After suffering for years from a
rare bone disorder that caused him constant and severe pain, he
discovered while still in college that marijuana provided effective
relief from his symptoms. Since then, he has worked relentlessly to
make smoked cannabis available to other patients who suffer from
debilitating illnesses such as AIDS and multiple sclerosis. The
longest surviving federal marijuana smoker in the United States,
Irvin is also a successful stockbroker in Fort Lauderdale. Without
access to marijuana, he maintains, “that life would have been
utterly impossible.” Irvin is currently a member of the board
of Directors of Patients Out
of Time, a national organization that seeks to raise awareness of
the therapeutic effects of smoked cannabis.
